Merry Christmas #jazz

White Christmas - The Drifters (Video/cartoon)
Sung by The Drifters. Cartoon by Joshua Held.
Featuring Bill Pinkney on lead bass and Clyde McPhatter on tenor.

Sing along:

Ooh
Doop doop, doop doo doop
Ooh
Doop doop, doop doo doop

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know,
Where those treetops glisten, and children listen,
To hear sleigh bells in the snow, the snow.

Then, I-I-I am dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
May your days, may your days, may your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white.

I-I-I am dreaming of a white Christmas,
Just like the ones I used to know,
Where the treetops glisten, and children listen,
To hear sleigh bells in the snow.

I-I-I am dreaming of a white Christmas,
With every Christmas card I write,
May your days, may your days, may your days be merry and bright,
And may all your Christmases be white.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle bells all the way.
Ooooh.

George Duke Wins 2013 Soul Train Award #jazz

The late jazz legend’s “Missing You” captures award for
Best Contemporary Jazz Performance

The Concord Music Group is proud to announce that “Missing You,” a track from the late George Duke’s DreamWeaver album, has won a Soul Train Award in the category of Best Contemporary Jazz Performance. The 2013 Soul Train Awards, which acknowledge the achievements of today’s most famed entertainers, were held on November 8 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and an array of Concord Music Group’s brightest stars were nominated, including Duke, George Benson, Boney James and Dave Koz. Koz presented Duke’s award to his sons, Rashid Duke and John Shiffer. Benson also presented an award. The Soul Train Awards aired Sunday, December 1 at 8p/7c in simulcast on BET and Centric.

With almost a half a century career, George Duke was one of the world’s most prolific jazz legends. The GRAMMY®-winning keyboardist/composer/producer’s final recording, DreamWeaver, was released July 16, 2013 on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart. On August 5, 2013, Duke died in Los Angeles at age 67.
