Joey DeFrancesco | 'Live At Yoshi's"

Joey DeFrancesco, "Live at Yoshi's". DeFrancesco's eighth release for Concord, "Live at Yoshi's" delivers an outstanding live collection of standards, which he refers to as his "authorized bootleg.”

Last year when Joey DeFrancesco set up shop for a four-night engagement at Yoshi’s, the San Francisco Bay Area’s premiere jazz club in Oakland CA, he had no intention of making an album, but renditions of standards “Cherokee,” “Ceora,” “I’m in the Mood for Love" and more, capture the essence of classic jazz in a live setting. “These songs have been played a million times,” says DeFrancesco, “but the level of live playing here is what gives the music its bebop and post-bebop beauty. We’re all playing in the moment—balls to the wall.”
