Chris Botti Explains His "Venice"

Trumpeter Chris Botti has a smooth jazz hit with the tune "Venice," from his current hit CD Italia. The tune features the guitar work of veteran player Dean Parks.

Botti explained how he created the tune: "We did a song called 'Venice.'It's something that I did, I wrote the melody originally in an apartment that I lived in for a very brief time in New York. And I just kinda liked the moodiness of it, it has this beautiful kind of guitar riff that makes its way languidly through the song. There's a hookiness to it but also there's an intimacy to the song in the way that it came out in the mix with the orchestra and stuff like that."

"Venice" rose to Number Six on the smooth jazz airplay charts last week.

Botti continues to maintain a heavy touring schedule into 2008 to promote Italia. The artist will perform tonight, January 9th, at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida. For a complete list of dates, go to chrisbotti.com.
