Gerald Veasley Makes His 'Move' This Week

Popular contemporary jazz bassist Gerald Veasley released his latest CD, Your Move, on the Heads Up International label on Tuesday, March 11th. The project finds Veasley offering up several original tunes, some co-written and produced by veteran guitarist Chuck Loeb.

The first single from the set is a tune written by Loeb called "Slip'N'Slide," the title of which still gives the Philadelphia-based musician a laugh. Said Veasley: "There are maybe four songs on the CD that I think the smooth jazz networks and radio would be able to embrace. And the first single is a song that Chuck wrote called 'Slip'N'Slide,' which is kind of a cool title (laughs). People really seem to enjoy that."

Veasley is the owner of the Jazz Base club in Reading, Pennsylvania, which is the site of the Berks Jazz Festival, kicking off March 28th. He will be conducting his seventh straight Bass Bootcamp for bass players during the festival. For more information about Bass Bootcamp and all things Berks, go to berksjazzfest.com.
