The Weather Channel plans to release its second smooth jazz collection on June 10. The 12-song collection features more of the channel's most requested music from legendary artists, including Joe Sample "Rainbow Seeker," Ramsey Lewis' "Wade in the Water," Eric Marienthal's "Big Country," Russ Freeman's "Brave New World," Charlie Parker's "Now's the Time," Norman Brown's "Lydian" and Jeff Lorber's "Pacific Coast Highway."
The Weather Channel is seen in over 90 million U.S. households, and over 35 million users visit The Weather Channel online monthly. The Weather Channel Radio Network reaches 2 million listeners weekly in over 150 U.S. markets, including 42 of the top 50 DMAs, and also is the weather provider for the nation's satellite radio services. The first music CD from the Weather Channel went to No. 1 on Billboard's Current Contemporary Jazz Albums Chart.
Marketing support for the project will include a "Local on the 8s" crawl, tagged with "Smooth Jazz II now available at..." message in key markets, and radio promotion in key markets. Music from the collection will be played one week prior to and during launch week as well as promotion during "Local on the 8s" feature of the Weather Channel.
