The Rebound of Wayman Tisdale

Oklahoma basketball legend, former NBA player and smooth jazz musician, Wayman Tisdale, who was diagnosed early last year with cancer, recently underwent surgery to amputate part of his right leg in an effort to eradicate the bone cancer from his body.

Though the procedure sounds drastic, Tisdale remained optimistic throughout the procedure and his battle with the disease.

In a recent post to his website Tisdale declares, “I’m back,” with an upbeat video post of him from his home.

Tisdale appears incredibly positive in the three-minute video in which he makes it clear that he is doing great and that he is not tied to a bed. He shares his thanks for the love and support he has received and gives some insight into what he has been working on.

He is also immensely excited about the Smooth Jazz Cruise, to the extent that he jokes that they might have to get a second boat just for him, because he doesn’t plan on sleeping.

Tisdale is still holding true to the title of his last album, Rebound. In June the album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums Chart.

“There is a lot more music inside me,” he said in a statement prior to his surgery, “and once I am back on my feet, I look forward to sharing my joy with my fans, friends and fellow musicians.” It appears as though you won’t have to wait much longer.
