John Legend To Perform At NBA All-Star Game

Grammy winner John Legend has been tapped as one of the half-time performers for the NBA All-Star Game, which is set for February 15th in Phoenix, Arizona. Legend will be joined by Latin star Juanes on a version of the rousing anthem "If You're Out There," from Legend's latest CD, Evolver.

The NBA chose Legend and Juanes because of their dedication to community service, a concept the organization will stress as they promote the NBA Cares program, according to AP.

Recently Legend talked about the creation of the tune "If You're Out There" : "It could have gone a few ways -- 'If You're Out There'could have been like pining for a lost lover or it could have been couple of other ideas, but it felt kind of like a big, sweeping anthem, and I wanted to write that kind of song. And it felt like in this moment, you know, this political moment and in the moment of where I am with my philanthropic work, it just felt like I should write kind of like a call to action, social anthem."

In other news, Legend has agreed to give the keynote address to Kaplan University's Winter Class of 2009. The online university will gather its students together on January 31st at Miami's James L. Knight Center for the live address from the Grammy winner, who will discuss the importance of education.
