Lorber to Be Honored By Oregon Hall Of Fame & Pennsylvania High School

Smooth jazz keyboardist and producer Jeff Lorber is still keeping the vibes fresh and the grooves funky. Over three decades after breaking ground as leader of the pioneering Jeff Lorber Fusion, which included saxophonist Kenny G, the Philly-born and bred composer, producer and keyboard legend is set to be honored for his accomplishments.

Later this year, Lorber will be honored in both Philadelphia and Portland for his distinguished career.

On October 17th, the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in Portland will induct Lorber during its third annual induction ceremony. Then, on October 23rd, Jeff will be honored by Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, which is north of Philadelphia.

In addition to Jeff the high school has graduated such esteemed figures as jazz musicians Michael and Randy Brecker, baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson and Benjamin Netanyahu, who will become Israel’s prime minister next month.

Meanwhile, Jeff’s latest album, Heard That, harnesses the soulful momentum of his career, collaborating brilliantly on pop, jazz, R&B and blues-influenced tracks–and even harkening back a bit to his early 80s Fusion heyday–with one of urban jazz’s top hit makers and sonic architects, Rex Rideout.
