Jazzer but no snob, guitarist swings Free lunchtime concert series

Berklee College of Music's fifth Kendall Square Concert Series takes place every Thursday throughout the summer—and it's free for lunchtime music lovers. July 30 brings student guitarist and composer Alex Wintz and his band to the stage. Though primary a jazz player, Wintz has immersed himself in rock, pop, and electronic music. Which is no wonder considering he's had some of the most innovating and experimental teachers Berklee has to offer: Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, and Rick Peckham, and Dave Santoro, among others.

Concerts takes place in the outdoor plaza at 300 Athenaeum Street, Kendall Square, Cambridge, on Thursdays, noon to 1:30 p.m., through September 10. Concerts will be postponed in inclement weather. The series is sponsored by the BioMed Realty Trust, Inc.
