Sade Releases Video For No. 1 Smooth Jazz Top 20 Hit “Soldier Of Love” [Video]

The highly anticipated video for Sade’s “Solider of Love” was unveiled today (January 11th). The song has been No. 1 on the Smooth Jazz Top 20 for two weeks after becoming the first vocal tune and the first song overall to debut at the top spot on the countdown.

The “Soldier of Love” video is directed by veteran British music video director Sophie Muller. It utilizes powerful yet dreamlike imagery with militant style dancing that coincides with the martial drums pulsating throughout the song. Channeling a futuristic wild-wild-west battleground coupled with her smooth, seductive voice, the video creates an intriguing contrast that captures the ultimate struggle and purpose to find love.

“Soldier Of Love,” which Sade co-produced with Mike Pela, was written by Sade along with longtime collaborators Andrew Hale, Stuart Matthewman and Paul Spencer Denman, and is from her forthcoming CD of the same name. Recorded in England, it will be released on February 9. It’s Sade’s first official CD since the multi-platinum release of Lovers Rock in 2000, which featured the smooth jazz singles “By Your Side,” “Somebody Already Broke My Heart” and “Lovers Rock.”
