Severino Quartet is a contemporary music quartet that plays original music #jazz #listen

Severino Quartet is a contemporary music quartet that plays original music. It sets a stylistic step forward with its unprecedented fusion of a Cool Jazz clean core band sound, Bebop unisons, moog and hammond hint at fusion and an impressionistic classical music touch that adds and enriches the originality of the compositions. Listen to Severino Quartet

The group is based on the cooperation between Tom Severino on piano, moog and hammond and Alex Severino on guitar. All compositions are originals except for the odd cover we sometimes like to reharmonize and show a new take on. The compositions are mostly influenced by other contemporary music artists and Impressionistic classical composers.

The quartet uses a formula that goes back to the roots of Jazz sound as it sticks to the basics in all the instruments. However it also includes a sense of fusion tradition through the use of the Moog synthesizer which provides the necessary electronic colour. So, it uses a clean sound of both the piano and the guitar which come alive in Parker-like unisons mixed with impressionistic polyphony.

This results in a combination of composition and improvisational modernity with a fully clean traditional Jazz sound, the latter uncharacteristic of contemporary Jazz. It is an innovative serious European music from the XXI century suitable for Jazz podia as well as classical concert halls.
