Peggy Duquesnel is touching souls with her piano

“Piano for My Soul” garners praise and over 700,000 Spotify streams for the imaginative blend of inspirational hymns and classical music.

Pianist Peggy Duquesnel’s sixteenth album release, “Piano for My Soul” is off to a sweet start. The collection of inspirational hymns and classical music knitted into innovative neoclassical tapestries is touching listeners. Released last month, the JoySpring Music album consisting of piano orchestrations and solo piano selections
produced and arranged by Duquesnel has received over 706,000 Spotify streams, powered by strong reviews and Duquesnel’s busy concert calendar.

Duquesnel created “Piano for My Soul” in two sections. The piano orchestration portion includes collaborations with Alan BroadbentBilly MartinAndre Mayeux and the late Steve Hall on classical works composed by the likes of BachChopin and Tchaikovsky melded with hymns. The back half of the collection is intimate solo piano pieces.

“I was inspired to create this album after reflecting on how much the piano nourishes my soul, whether I am playing for my own enjoyment or performing for an audience. Many of the arrangements on this album were inspired by my classical background and incorporate my gift of combining a hymn with a classical theme to create a new and moving piece of music,” said Duquesnel who released a companion nature video for each song on the disc as well as piano tutorials for several selections from the album.

Duquesnel also published an accompanying set of her piano arrangements, “Piano for My Soul” – Volume One, consisting of four hymns and classic solo piano arrangements as well as her original song “A Lullaby,” written after the birth of her grandson.

This Wednesday (May 11), Duquesnel will perform with a quartet at OC Live in Costa Mesa, CA before concluding a monthlong residency at Disney's Grand Californian Resort on Saturday (May 14).
