Armstrong Park site to open in spring
A long-awaited national park celebrating a music form historically nurtured on New Orleans' streets and in its performance halls and bars will open in Armstrong Park in the spring.
Work has begun on the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, which will be managed by the National Park Service.
"The vision for the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park is for this site to represent on the cultural side of the National Park Service something comparable to what most people understand the Grand Canyon represents on the natural resource side," said Patricia Hooks, the service's Southeast region director.
