A winner of the 2007 Jazzmobile competition and an award recipient at the Montreux Jazz Voice Competition, Alexis has been cited as "a rising star in the jazz world” by Hot House Magazine. Her vocal talents from her three previous albums have been featured on NBC’s NY Morning Show, and in reputable publications such as Jazz Times, Time Out NY, and Jazz Improv Magazine.
While possessing tremendous vocal abilities, Alexis is also an accomplished pianist, arranger, and composer; having obtained two degrees in Jazz voice and Jazz piano. Most recently, she’s also added the position of lead vocalist for the West Point Jazz Knights, the U.S. Army’s big band, to her diverse resume.
True to Alexis’ eclectic nature, the tracks on The Greatest Gift span genres, while staying within the realm of her Jazz roots. Selections include Jazz, Classical, Blues and Choral elements, to make up 14 classic yet innovative tracks. Alexis reinvents Christmas favorites “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and she contributes a heart-warming new song, “The Call,” to the lineup of Christmas standards.
Another interesting element to this release is that proceeds will benefit the World Bicycle Relief. The organization is dedicated to providing bicycles to individuals in developing countries around the world, to give access to transportation and promote independence, empowerment, and sustainability.
