Lavish Praise For New Patti Austin Project

As an added bonus to her new release "Avant-Gershwin" (Rendezvous Entertainment), vocalist Patti Austin has developed podcasts called Patti Austin's Living Liner Notes so music fans can hear about the album in her own words. Austin reveals to listeners why she chose the songs, behind-the-scenes anecdotes of the recording process, and interesting facts about George and Ira Gershwin and the songs themselves. The liner notes are available for free on iTunes.

Before "Avant-Gershwin" hits stores, ithe project is already garnering impressive critical acclaim; Jazz Times, for example, claims that it will put her "in the Grammy race"; a review in the new People Magazine (issue date March 2) declares, "Throughout [Austin] radiates style and drama, poise and remarkable energy"; USA Today deems "Avant-Gershwin" "a slice of jazz heaven...stunning." Watch for additional coverage, including a Jazziz cover feature; a Jazz Times feature; segments on NPR's "Morning Edition" and "News & Notes"; and reviews in Parade and Vibe.

To kick off the release of "Avant-Gershwin," Austin will do a special in-store appearance and CD signing at Circuit City in Los Angeles on the album’s street date, Tuesday, March 6th. She will also tour throughout the spring and summer, including the Legends Of Jazz Tour, along with Ramsey Lewis, Al Jarreau and Boney James. Keep an eye on local listings.

Simultaneously, Austin's single "So Amazing" from "Forever, For Always, For Luther Volume II," is at 11* on the R&R Smooth Jazz Monitored chart.
