Rick Braun and Richard Elliott have been added to the lineup for the Dave Koz & Friends At Sea Cruise.
In August of last year the exciting collaboration between trumpeter Rick Braun and saxophonist Richard Elliot finally occurred after being in the making for over a decade. They have toured together for years and have made guest appearances on each other’s records. Between them, they have twenty-four solo albums and a massive catalogue of chart-topping radio hits.
When they launched the ARTizen Music Group record label it was only a matter of time before the two heavyweights stepped into the ring side by side to deliver a knockout album full of punchy beats & rhythms, potent melodies and collaborative sparks that melded naturally and have roots that voyage far beyond musical talents.
There is a definite and intentional pun evoked in naming their album. (As well as this article.) The consistent obstacle to recording together came in the various forms of solo records, tours, someone else’s record, and the inevitable reality that they had lives outside of their art. So when they finally found some time for R(est) and R(elaxtion) - what do they do? They make a record.
True to its namesake, R n R is all about fun.
And thus, they make a perfect addition to the Koz Cruise. The ship is set to sail in November and the buoyant marquee is inflated with an abundance of performers, such as Jeff Golub, Eric Benet, Candy Dulfer, an eclectic blend of many other artists and of course, the man himself, Dave Koz.
