Awards will be presented in more than 40 categories of excellence in jazz performance and documentation; professional JJA members have voted to choose the winners from among nominees named last month. New "A Team" members-- "advocates, activists, altruists, aiders and abettors of jazz"-- will also be introduced at the ceremonies to be hosted by Terrance McKnight of New York City's WQXR-FM.
Satellite parties are planned in Berkeley, CA; Phoenix/Scottsdale; Seattle; Portland; Chicago and Albuquerque. All are free and open to the public: go to our satellite party page and click on the city nearest you for location and other details.
If you can't attend any of these affairs, be sure to check out the live video stream; you'll be able to watch either on the Awards site, or at ustream. (If you have an iPhone, you can watch on the uStream app.)

At this year's gala --in contrast to previous years-- all awards will be announced and presented before the start of the reception and musical performances in honor of the award winners. Two types of tickets --one for admission to the awards presentation and the reception, the other for admission to the reception only are on sale at Acteva.com's secure site.
Doors open for the awards presentation at 3:30 pm
Reception at 5:00 pm
The reception will feature performances by:

- Marc Cary Focus Trio (thanks to Motema Music)

Brother Thelonious Belgian Ale/ wine from City Winery's own reserve/ waters and sodas and light refreshments will be served at the reception.
All ticket sales and donations support the Jazz Journalists Association and its activities aimed educating jazz journalists, raising the level of jazz criticism and increasing the audience for, and understanding of, jazz as an important form of artistic and cultural expression.
