Marcus Johnson Extends Appeal For Benefit CD

Keyboardist and label owner Marcus Johnson is sending out an appeal to his fans for more support of his CD, In Concert For A Cause, which raises money for the YMCA's Building Bridges Campaign in Maryland.

In his national newsletter, Johnson writes, "As of now, Circuit City has placed my newest CD, In Concert For a Cause, in a national listening station program and brought in a large amount of units nationwide to support it. This is awesome for us and has led to you having the ability to purchase our music in your local area. To be honest, our goal is to get as many sales as we can to make sure they don't return the product and to keep us high on their list for future consideration. So, I'm back to it. Please pass the word on to support Three Keys, our staff, and the YMCA's Building Bridges Campaign by purchasing a copy of In Concert for A Cause at Circuit City."

Concert For A Cause, originally issued in 2006, features a collection of recordings from Johnson's live performances. The album features covers of Talib Kweli's "Just To Get By," Erykah Badu's "Bag Lady" and "On And On," and Beyonce's "Me Myself And I," as well as Johnson originals "88 Ways To Love" and "Sandy Point."

Meanwhile, Johnson is postponing the Jazz Escape Weekend, an all-inclusive jazz weekend at the Club Med Sandpiper in Port St. Lucie, Florida, to 2009. The event was originally set for this fall.

Note: It's unclear to me if all sales of the CD benefit the "Y", or just through Circuit City. It looks like it's about a dollar cheaper at CC anyway, so you can use the link above if you're interested.
