Norman Brown Sets Performers For Smooth Music Cruise

Guitarist and composer Norman Brown is keeping busy. As the host and musical director, he has been finalizing the line-up for the 2009 Smooth Music Cruise, which takes place from January 31st through February 5th, sailing from Miami to Key West, the private island Coco Cay, and the Bahamas.

Artists confirmed for the cruise include Nick Colionne, Boney James, Mindi Abair, Heather Headley, Larry Carlton, Acoustic Alchemy, Greg Adams, Steve Cole, Marion Meadows, Michael Lington, Shilts, Steve Oliver, Chieli Minucci, Alan Hewitt, and Althea Rene.

More information about the cruise can be found at SmoothMusicCruise.com.

Meanwhile, Brown is back on the smooth jazz airplay charts with the latest single from his CD Stay With Me. The tune "Pop's Cool Groove" maintains its place at Number Ten this week.

Recently, Brown explained that his dad inspired the tune: "That's my father (laughs). He would sit down in the basement with me and listen to me practice for hours, hours and hours. He just loved to hear me play, and he really liked Wes Montgomery and that style. So I learned that style and I would just play for him every night. And that song, when I wrote it and finished it was like, oh yeah, this is Pop's cool groove."

Brown's previous instrumental single, "Let's Take A Ride," rose to Number One on the smooth jazz airplay charts.
