Saxophonist Dave Koz's long-awaited new album, At The Movies, has nabbed the top spot on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Albums chart as expected. The album was able to unseat chart king Kenny G's latest outing in its first week on the chart.
The out-of-the-box showing for At The Movies is good news for Koz, who gave up his annual summer and holiday tours last year as well as his local radio morning show in Los Angeles in order to devote more time and attention to the production, packaging, and marketing of the release.
Koz is climbing the national smooth jazz airplay charts with his version of "It Might Be You" from the film Tootsie. The instrumental track features guitarist Peter White, while the vocal version features India.Arie.
